About Top5Dentist
Top5Dentist is an independent directory that helps patients find and compare the top dentists in their city. We do the research so you do not have to sort through dozens of websites and scattered reviews. Our goal is simple: surface the strongest dental practices in every US community, ranked by objective criteria you can trust.
Where our data comes from
We build every city list from real, verifiable sources. Practice names, credentials, specialties, and addresses come from the national provider registry, the official record of licensed healthcare providers in the United States. Where available, we add patient ratings and review counts from public review platforms. We never invent ratings, reviews, or practice details. If we do not have a verified rating for a practice, we simply do not show one.
Our ranking methodology
Each practice receives a composite score from zero to one hundred, built from four weighted factors:
Patient reviews (40 percent)
We weigh the average patient rating and the volume of reviews from public sources, so a practice with many happy patients ranks above one with only a handful of ratings.
Review volume (30 percent)
A high rating means more when it is backed by a large number of reviews. Consistent feedback over time is a strong signal of reliable care.
Credentials and experience (20 percent)
We verify each practice against the national provider registry and factor in years in practice and the breadth of services offered.
Online presence (10 percent)
A working website and complete, accurate contact details make it easier for patients to reach the practice and book care.
How often we update
Dental practices open, move, and earn new reviews all the time. We refresh our data on a regular cycle and display the last updated date at the top of every city page, so you always know how current the information is.
Editorial independence and sponsored listings
Dentists can purchase a sponsored position on their city page. Every sponsored listing is clearly marked with a Sponsored label so there is never any confusion. Buying a sponsored position does not change how we score or rank the organic listings, which remain based purely on our objective criteria.
Some listings on this page are paid placements and are marked with an Ad label. Our rankings are otherwise editorial and based on objective criteria, though paid placements may receive priority position.
Editorial standards
We hold every listing to a simple standard: it must be real, verifiable, and useful to patients. Practice identity, credentials, and specialties are drawn from the national provider registry. Ratings and review counts, where shown, come only from public review platforms and are never invented or edited. Our rankings are produced by a consistent scoring formula applied the same way in every city, so no practice can influence its organic position through anything other than genuine quality signals.
Corrections and accuracy
Practice details change, and public data is not perfect. Every listing has a Report an issue link, and we review each report to verify and correct the information. If you are a practice owner and something is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it. Keeping the directory accurate is a continuous part of our work, not a one time task.
Ownership and funding
Top5Dentist is an independently operated directory. We fund the site through clearly labeled paid placements and advertising, which never affect how the organic listings are researched or ranked. We are not owned by any dental practice, group, or advertiser.
